About The Position

The Financial Analyst - Budget supports the Finance Department with budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis. The position compiles, evaluates, and presents financial data to assist with decision-making, operational efficiency, and long-term planning across the District.

Requirements

At least three years of experience in finance; public finance experience is preferred.
Solid understanding of basic budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and data integrity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
Experience with financial systems.
Public finance experience.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing, tracking, and reviewing annual operating and capital budgets.
Update and maintain capital improvement program funding reports.
Coordinate monthly budget correspondence with Member Cities and Customers.
Analyze financial data and prepare reports on revenue, expenses, and budget performance.
Support development and maintenance of long-range Strategic Financial Plans.
Perform reconciliations and prepare variance analyses for departmental and District-wide budgets.
Contribute to developing cost allocation models by gathering data and preparing documentation.
Prepare budget-to-actual reports and other financial summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with the Records Management Program.
Participate in financial modeling to evaluate operational and capital planning scenarios.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial information.
Support special projects and other finance-related initiatives as assigned.
