About The Position

This is a 4-month student position for Fall 2026 within the FP&A Innovation & Strategic Projects team at Canadian Tire. The role involves improving financial planning processes and supporting the execution of CTFS’s True North Strategy. The student will collaborate with business partners and the FP&A team to enhance financial forecasting models, create financial business cases aligned with strategic objectives, and participate in key financial processes like monthly business reviews, annual planning, and forecasting cycles. The position also requires working closely with corporate partners to advance Canadian Tire’s True North Strategy.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a university degree or college diploma in Finance/Accounting, Economics, Math, or another related discipline.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to collaborate across various levels within the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (or the ability to learn these tools on the job).
  • Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently (including 4 days per week in the office and 1 day per week virtually).
  • Outcome-focused critical thinkers with the ability to analyze financial results and draw meaningful insights from financial information.
  • Collaborative team players who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups.
  • Equipped with strong technical skills, capable of conducting simple to moderately difficult financial analyses, and adept at learning new financial software and systems with ease.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI is considered an asset but is not required; online training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business partners and the FP&A team to enhance and develop financial forecasting models.
  • Work with various CTFS business units to create financial business cases aligned with their strategic objectives.
  • Participate in the monthly business review process, annual planning and forecasting cycles, and periodic projections.
  • Work closely with corporate partners to advance key elements of Canadian Tire’s True North Strategy.
  • Collaborate with a Senior Analyst to update and create insightful management reports to enable business decisions.
  • Enhance and create Excel financial models aimed to simplify business processes.
  • Support financial services business cases for Canadian Tire’s True North strategy.
  • Create reports in Microsoft Power BI.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Canadian Tire Financial Services' strategy and financial results.
  • Support internal clients with ad hoc analysis requests.
