About The Position

BDO is seeking a driven individual to join their Real Estate Valuations & Modelling team as a Financial Analyst in Toronto. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise and gain hands-on experience in delivering high-quality valuation services. The successful candidate will support valuation engagements, contribute to client deliverables, and work closely with the team to build their knowledge and skill set. This is a net new role within the firm.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or another related field.
• 0-2 years of work experience in appraisal, asset management, investments, consulting, etc is considered an asset.
• An understanding and ability to read financial statements, and other pertinent documents such as leases, sales agreements, and research reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• A valid Canadian G-level driver’s license with access to a car is required.

Nice To Haves

• Willingness to work towards an AACI designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Carry out real estate appraisal mandates.
• Work extensively with Excel to perform complex financial analysis.
• Develop proficiency with BDO’s real estate valuation workbooks, mapping, and research programs.
• Conduct market research and collect/collate relevant sales comparables.
• Carry out land use research, including mapping, usage, official plans, and zoning by-laws.
• Participate in site inspections as required (some travel may be necessary).
• Contribute to the preparation of appraisal reports, client presentations, and proposals.
• Liaise with market participants and clients for research and reporting purposes.
• Support business development activities by building relationships with current and prospective clients, as well as other BDO service groups.
• Perform additional valuation-related tasks as assigned (audit assist, market research reporting, etc).
• If interested, contribute to Business Valuations for tax planning, financial reporting, financial planning, and transaction advisory purposes.
