About The Position

Idaho Power is looking for a Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst to join their Finance team. This role plays a critical part in serving communities across Idaho and Oregon by providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy. The position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, offering flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 2 years of professional experience in accounting or finance (for Financial Analyst)
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in finance or accounting (for Senior Financial Analyst)
  • Knowledge of financial theory (such as time value of money, discounted cash flows, capital structure, and the development of weighted average cost of capital), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accounting
  • Knowledge of the Company’s revenue requirement and cost recovery mechanisms and applies those in modeling
  • Effective oral and written communication, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and query tools
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and communicate information proficiently
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to adapt easily to change
  • Ability to initiate process improvements
  • Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to perform several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to safeguard the use of sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful situations
  • Ability to design, create, and troubleshoot complex models utilizing advanced functions like pivot tables, lookups, financial functions, advanced formatting, etc., in Excel
  • Ability to efficiently extract data from complex ERP systems

Nice To Haves

  • Additional college classes in finance and/or accounting above the bachelor's degree requirements or advanced degree in related field (for both Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst)
  • Utility experience (for both Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst)
  • Professional certification such as CFA, CMA, or CPA (for both Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst)

Responsibilities

  • Performing specialized financial, accounting, budgeting, planning activities and analysis
  • Acting as a consultant on financial policy, procedure, and application
  • Preparing and presenting conclusions and recommendations to management
  • Requiring knowledge of financial and accounting theory, principles and practices, regulatory recovery methods, and utility ratemaking practices
