About The Position

This 18-month contract role is for a curious and motivated accounting professional to join the Inventory Accounting team at Canadian Tire Corporation. The role offers exposure to complex inventory accounting, financial reporting, process improvement, and business partnering across multiple banners. The Financial Analyst will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting business initiatives, improving processes, and driving efficiencies. This position involves close collaboration with Finance, Supply Chain, Merchandising, FP&A, and Operations, while developing strong technical accounting and analytical skills.

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation.
  • 2-3 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Copilot, Power BI, HFM, or PeopleSoft is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis related to inventory, obsolescence, shrink, and foreign exchange.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities.
  • Investigate variances, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Partner with Finance and business teams to resolve accounting issues and support key business initiatives.
  • Execute and maintain key financial controls and support audit requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and improve processes and reporting.
  • Leverage technology and analytics tools, including Copilot, to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.
