About The Position

The Financial Analyst II performs a wide range of professional accounting activities requiring application of an advanced professional and competent knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices. Works independently under broad direction and within established accounting systems to handle specialized, relatively large assignments and resolve complex financial and/or technical problems. Key responsibilities include: performing analyses on balance sheet accounts; coordinating the preparation and analysis of monthly/quarterly/annual schedules, statements and/or reports for distribution to internal and/or external clients; liaising with internal and external clients to exchange information, provide professional/technical assistance as required; providing advanced support, as required, to facilitate management decision making; providing advanced support for the hospital’s annual interim and final audits; ensure compliance with internal controls; and, keeping informed about current and emerging accounting issues and trends, including technological changes.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or recognized equivalent required
  • Currently completed CA, CGA or CMA designation
  • 3-5 years senior accounting experience
  • Advanced level knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques and principles
  • Advanced skills in accurately performing detailed reconciliations using large amounts of complex interrelated financial and/or statistical data
  • Advanced skills in analyzing and interpreting complex financial data
  • Experience with fixed assets, capital budgeting and capital leases
  • Experience with cash flow tracking and projection
  • A self-starter, self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Solid hands-on experience working with various computer applications such as financial systems (Infinium), report writers
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and specifically Excel are essential
  • Experience with report preparation, training, and presentations to all levels of staff
  • Experience with the development and improvement of financial models, workflow and analysis
  • Proven attendance record

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Ministry of Health MIS Guidelines is preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital financial accounting requirements and reporting structure is an asset
  • Infinium experience is a definite asset
