About The Position

The Financial Analyst I position focuses on financial reporting, analytics, and forecasting needs across all areas of the Tribe which depends on gaining a general knowledge of all areas of operations across the Tribe. This position must also develop an understanding of the internal controls, policies and procedures, and other business operations flows that are critical to developing the reports needed to support those areas for future modeling. This position will work closely with all members of the Finance team as well as various business leaders. This position will also learn the general functions within the Finance team for cross-functional support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or a similar field. If the degree is not in Finance or Accounting, completed course hours must include a minimum of 24 credit hours of accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of at least one internship or work experience in which the responsibilities focus on analytics and reporting utilizing various tools
  • Applicants will be required to authorize a background check and submit to drug testing. Failure to do so will disqualify applicants from consideration for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with Excel, Cognos, PowerBI or other tools of a similar nature.
  • Experience that includes governmental or healthcare business would be a plus.
  • PMP certification or project management coursework would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general functions within the Finance team for cross-functional support and back-up in alignment with the internal policies of the Tribe along with GASB and GAAP.
  • Develop business analytics and KPI Dashboards for the various business areas of the Tribe to support modeling and planning needs of those businesses.
  • Develop interfaces and/or process flows that streamline data between and among various systems and/or departments to increase efficiency within the department.
  • Contribute to development of cash flow modeling and analysis tools for monthly, quarterly, and annual needs which will be critical to all facets of the organization.
  • Document all processes and reports that are developed to ensure cross-training capabilities in the future.
  • Work with various areas related to budgeting and budgeting reporting needs for management and for all business areas.
  • Perform account reconciliations and other general accounting duties as assigned.
  • May participate in financial and/or Federal grant audits as needed.
