About the position
The Financial Analyst role at FreshBooks is an opportunity to work with the company's Subscription and Payments lines of business, providing solid data and analysis to drive growth and influence business decisions. The responsibilities include financial analysis and reporting, competitive analysis, variance analysis, building models and tools for management reporting, and conducting operational reviews. The ideal candidate should have a university undergraduate degree, at least two years of financial analysis experience, proficiency in Excel, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Experience in SaaS and knowledge of Looker and MySQL query are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Preparing daily, weekly and monthly financial analysis and reporting
- Completing regular competitive analysis – potentially including market analysis too
- Completing variance analysis against targets, budgets and forecasts
- Building new models and tools for daily, weekly & monthly management reporting on KPIs
- Bringing key insights to the team and influencing business decisions across the company
- Working through the FP&A month-end process, including revamping existing month-end models
- Conducting departmental operational reviews, analysis, and support
- Business modeling and ad-hoc analysis
- Budgeting and forecasting
Requirements
- University undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering preferred
- At least two years of financial analysis budgeting and forecasting experience
- Excel expertise with experience in modeling large volumes of data, including pivot tables and complex formulas
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Self-starter mentality
