About The Position

As a Financial Analyst on our Employee Benefits consulting team, you’ll be the person who turns claims reports, renewal models, and carrier proposals into clear, actionable guidance for your teammates and for clients. This role involves analyzing plan performance, building financial models, preparing market analyses, contributing to strategy discussions, and collaborating with internal teams to improve reporting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Four to six years of experience in employee benefits financial analysis, consulting, or a closely related role.
  • Prior experience at an employee benefits brokerage or consulting firm is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build financial models and communicate results to non-technical audiences.
  • Solid knowledge of group insurance products: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability.
  • Working knowledge of benefits financial concepts: stop-loss, self-funding, claims analysis, and plan design modeling.
  • Strong project management skills and a track record of delivering accurate work on deadline.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements for employer-sponsored health plans: PPACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, etc.
  • Exceptional Excel skills and comfort with the broader Microsoft Office suite.

  • Asana, Box, Salesforce, and/or Craft experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor monthly claims across medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision, tracking utilization trends, and flagging cost drivers.
  • Create clear reports and dashboards for internal teams and clients based on claims data.
  • Build and maintain underwriting and financial models to project renewal costs, explore plan design alternatives, and support multi-year cost planning.
  • Prepare RFPs and underwriting submissions, analyze carrier and stop-loss proposals, and build side-by-side comparisons.
  • Model plan design changes, contribution strategies, and employee cost-sharing scenarios to support client strategy conversations.
  • Prepare renewal scenarios to guide clients through potential outcomes.
  • Partner with the Data & Engineering Team to automate claims reporting, validate outputs, and provide feedback.
  • Work closely with Financial Consultants and Account Managers to ensure accuracy and quality of client deliverables.
  • Participate in team knowledge sharing and process improvement initiatives.
