About The Position

The Financial Analyst & Accountant is a trusted financial advisor and thought partner to business and functional leaders across the Credit Union. This role supports informed decision-making by translating financial data into practical insights that align operational performance with the credit union’s mission, budget, and financial sustainability goals.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum of accounting experience in financial services industry, preferably in a credit union or a bank
  • Experience partnering directly with operational or functional leaders
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain financial results clearly
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, plus be a comfortable self-learner to support automation initiatives and automate production of analytics
  • High focus on attention to detail
  • Prior experience working with GL and Budgeting software
  • Ready to drive transformation and implementation of new processes and tools

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Fiserv Vantage, Liquidity 360 and Deposit 360, Darling Consulting Software is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in month and quarter end close, leading the production of the financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Demonstrates understanding of month end accruals and conducts expense analysis
  • Conducts financial statement analysis during the close to identify required, missing, journal entries
  • Provides documented analytical feedback on monthly financial statement variances to budget and to prior periods
  • Prepares and analyzes the financial statements including net interest margin, board reporting, and regulatory reporting (i.e. NCUA 5300 Call Report) monthly and quarterly as applicable
  • Ownership of the general ledger including mapping of loan and deposit products, opening and closing GL periods, for GL, A/P, and FA system and understanding the Chart of Accounts
  • Manages the reconciliation process including reviewing reconciliations for accuracy, timeliness, guiding reconciliation preparers on how to clear outstanding items, educating preparers on how to properly prepare a reconciliation
  • Tracks completion of all Credit Union reconciliations including proper sign off, timeliness of reconciliation submission and tracking of 90+ day outstanding items, all while ensuring compliance with the Credit Union’s Reconciliation Policy guidelines
  • Provides financial expertise and support to specific departments within the Credit Union (e.g. Lending, Retail, HR, IT) and act as a liaison between the finance function and various business units, helping to bridge the gap between financial data and business decisions
  • Responsible for core financial planning activities, including budgeting and forecasting, and will serve as a key control steward, helping to drive business strategic decisions
  • Develops financial models to forecast future performance, assess investment opportunities, and evaluate financial risks for the business, and to analyze the impact of business decisions on financial performance
  • Takes ownership of dedicated KPIs reporting
  • Prepares documentation, analytics and controls to support internal and external reporting
  • Assists in coordinating and producing consolidated quarterly and monthly reporting and financial reviews with other stakeholders
  • Participates with internal and external auditors for quarterly internal audits and year end financial statement audits and 990T tax filing. Also compiles accurate and complete financial and accounting information for external regulators and auditors when necessary.
