About The Position

This role is for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys being involved in the closing process and transforming numbers into meaningful, actionable insights. The analyst will bring energy to cross-functional partnerships, collaborating with teams across the business to ensure key metrics are accurate, aligned, and driving results. The position requires natural curiosity and analytical skills, confidence in using reporting and data visualization tools to support smart decisions and continuous improvement for the Scholastic and College teams.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of related experience.
  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Excellent technical skills in accounting, with strong systems aptitude and PC skills, specifically spreadsheets (Excel), database (Access), general ledger experience, and financial reporting software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in Oracle systems, G/L experience, and BI Technology (Tableau/Power BI), and SAP BPC financial reporting software.

Responsibilities

  • Support monthly and year-end accounting close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries for assigned product lines.
  • Analyze month-end financial results for Scholastic and College markets, identifying key drivers and variances.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation and reports for journal entries and close activities.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Produce and review weekly performance metrics for assigned Scholastic and College markets.
  • Prepare weekly metric reporting for Sales and business partners.
  • Research weekly metric discrepancies.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update plan and forecast files for Scholastic and College markets.
  • Partner with Product teams to ensure all sales and margins are accurately reflected in financial results.
  • Support pricing through margin and profitability analysis.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Supply Chain, and Finance Operation teams to support plans, forecasts, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support the broader Finance team.
  • Prepare commission adjustments and related reporting for Sales representatives.
  • Support Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance with financial questions and data requests.
  • Develop and maintain EDW, BI, and Access queries to support reporting, metrics, and analysis needs.
  • Support project implementations, including system testing, validation, and verification.
  • Participate in other finance initiatives and projects as needed.
