About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking an analytically strong finance leader for its Corporate Strategy and Development (CSD) finance team. The role serves as the primary finance partner to the Systems-to-Materials (STM) group and supports financial analysis across the broader CSD organization. STM incubates programs intended to advance the company’s position in the semiconductor value chain, connecting materials engineering expertise to device- and system-level performance through modeling and simulation, physical test vehicles, and design enablement. The Senior Analyst partners with STM, EHS, and Core CSD leadership to drive the finance operating rhythm, provide actionable insights, and deliver financial targets. The position supports strategy, portfolio prioritization, complex financial analysis, and systems and process innovation across CSD, including Corporate Strategy and Corporate Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs, and Government Affairs.

  • Ability to thrive in a startup-type environment, manage ambiguity, and collaborate broadly across functions and regions.
  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot and automation to improve the speed and quality of analysis.

  • Perform financial modeling, scenario planning, and portfolio prioritization across STM, EHS, and Core CSD, applying NPV and ROI analysis to STM R&D investments.
  • Build business cases and value metrics that justify incremental spending and connect STM programs to revenue, royalties, and strategic impact; connect EHS and Core CSD requests to regulatory requirements, risk mitigation, and qualitative benefits.
  • Own the finance operating rhythm and FP&A cycle, including the annual operating plan, strategic reviews, and quarterly forecasts; reconcile bottom-up plans to corporate targets and explain results in executive-ready memos and presentations.
  • Lead budget development across STM, EHS, and Core CSD, distinguishing baseline spending from incremental requests such as headcount, vendor spending, software and EDA licenses, and capital; frame funding gaps, trade-offs, and risks.
  • Manage headcount planning across a global, multi-site footprint, including headcount walks and labor cost modeling.
  • Build and maintain finance templates, data, and processes for accurate and timely cost and headcount tracking, using automation to replace manual workflows.
  • Collaborate with CSD finance, COE, regional finance, corporate finance, and business unit finance partners, and contribute to Global Finance projects and priorities.
  • Develop self-service tools, templates, and training to help engineering and functional leaders plan spending and build finance capability across the extended CSD finance team.
