About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a finance leader for its Corporate Strategy and Development (CSD) finance team. The role serves as the primary finance partner to the Systems-to-Materials (STM) group and supports financial analysis across CSD. The Senior Analyst partners with STM, EHS, and Core CSD leadership to lead the finance operating rhythm, provide actionable insights, and deliver financial targets. Core CSD functions include Corporate Strategy & Corporate Marketing, Communications & Public Affairs, and Government Affairs. Across these organizations, the role supports strategy, portfolio prioritization, complex financial analysis, and systems and process innovation, helping leaders understand how investments translate into business value.

  • Ability to thrive in a startup-type environment, manage ambiguity, and collaborate broadly across functions and regions.
  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, and automation to improve the speed and quality of analysis.
  • Self-starter who is passionate, curious, and eager to learn and grow.

  • Perform financial modeling, scenario planning, and portfolio prioritization, including NPV and ROI analysis for STM R&D investments.
  • Build business cases and value metrics that link STM programs to revenue, royalties, and strategic impact, and frame EHS and Core CSD requests in terms of regulatory requirements, risk mitigation, and qualitative benefits.
  • Own the finance operating rhythm and FP&A cycle, including the annual operating plan, strategic reviews, and quarterly forecasts; reconcile bottom-up plans to corporate targets.
  • Explain financial results in concise, executive-ready memos and presentations.
  • Lead budget development across STM, EHS, and Core CSD, distinguishing baseline run-rate spend from incremental requests such as headcount, vendor spend, software and EDA licenses, and capital.

  • Manage headcount planning across a global, multi-site footprint, including headcount walks and labor cost modeling.
  • Build and maintain finance templates, data, and processes for accurate and timely cost and headcount tracking, using automation to replace manual workflows.
  • Collaborate with CSD finance, COE, regional finance, corporate finance, business unit finance partners, and the extended finance team; contribute to Global Finance projects and priorities.
  • Develop self-service tools, templates, and training to help engineering and functional leaders plan spend and build finance capability across the extended CSD finance team.
