About The Position

The Financial Aid Associate II, under general supervision, performs highly responsible and varied administrative and technical financial aid duties or specialized activities and/or supervises a group of financial aid support staff employees within a specific organizational unit; coordinates financial aid programs requiring unique analysis. Texas A&M University-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the colleges of Business; Education & Health Professions; Liberal Arts & Social Sciences; and Natural & Applied Science. Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs.
  • Knowledge of Financial Aid principles.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Customer service and organization skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists financial aid administrator or other administrative superior in planning, developing, and implementing financial aid policies and procedures.
  • Assists with interpretation of complex rules, regulations, procedures, and policies to other staff, students, parents, and others.
  • Reviews and acts upon or recommends action on requests for various financial aid actions ensuring conformity with university, state, and federal regulations.
  • May coordinate a specialized program or activity.
  • Supervises support staff engaged in the maintenance of financial aid records and processing of financial aid actions.
  • Trains new employees and evaluates progress.
  • Supervises the administrative processing of new hires and terminating employees.
  • Studies personnel needs and problems and recommends action.
