About The Position

The Financial Aid Coordinator is responsible for working with and supporting the campus Financial Aid teams to compliantly process all awards. This position has responsibilities specific to a functional area of the centralized financial aid teams, at the campus support center. Federal Student Aid, State, and VA regulations must be applied to the day-to-day processing, including adherence to the institution’s Policy and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a team player, possess a strong work ethic and be able to coordinate multiple tasks while meeting required deadlines.
  • Must be capable of working independently.
  • Proficient with basic office equipment, computers and computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must possess strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, show extreme resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one year of financial aid experience, including working knowledge in using a Financial Aid Management system for electronic processing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid regulations, and ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
  • Must be student-focused individual with a passion for education.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing all financial aid programs awarded at the campus; ensure compliance with Federal Student Aid (FSA) regulations, State, and/or Veteran Education Benefits requirements.
  • Work closely with all other functional team at the campus support center to consistently improve compliance and productivity.
  • Work with institution’s third party agencies, FSA, and, VA online systems to process student funding.
  • Work with campus Financial Aid teams to increase their productivity and minimize and eliminate back log of student awards not processed; this includes working at campus locations as needed.
  • On a daily basis, review the quality of student awards and documentation to confirm eligibility.
  • Provide regular feedback to campus Financial Aid leaders to assist them to improve compliant processing and reduce errors.
  • Review and confirm eligibility in all institutional awards, utilizing institutional policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate integrity, ethical behavior in working with confidential information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Abide by FSA and institutional code of conduct.
  • Assist with providing updates and maintaining policy and procedures for all activities within functional area of responsibility.
  • Periodically review and audit student aid file documentation to ensure a high level of compliance.
  • Provide campus support to the campus financial aid offices as needed.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of guidelines/regulations related to job responsibilities.
  • Participate in all financial aid training, meetings, and events as assigned.
  • Provide exemplary customer service by going the extra mile for the customer.
  • All other duties as assigned.
