About The Position

The Financial Aid Coordinator performs technical specialized duties in the administration of student financial assistance programs, following all relevant federal regulations and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional aid programs, including all applicable regulations and policies.
  • Ability to provide accurate information to students and families based on established laws and policies.
  • Knowledge of tax laws, and the ability to assist students and families with the FAFSA application and the verification process.
  • Knowledge of financial aid websites.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.
  • Ability to learn new computer software.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • One to three years of financial aid, customer service, or related experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to all applicants, their families, and members of the community.
  • Assist students and prospective students with completing financial aid applications and provide guidance in locating additional financial resources.
  • Compare FAFSA application with documentation collected from students; identify and resolve discrepant information; utilize federal data systems to update student records.
  • Retrieve ISIR files from the Department of Education; code and format files into Banner, batch post, and post tracking requirements based on the ISIR file.
  • Award, document, and track departmental and Foundation scholarships.
  • Award each student’s federal financial aid for each semester and notify the students of what financial aid they will be receiving for the upcoming semester.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
