About The Position

Aquila, a division of Constellation Software Inc., is seeking a Financial Aid Consultant to join their remote Consulting Services team. This role supports post-secondary schools, including colleges, universities, and career schools, by providing expertise on Title IV financial aid compliance. The consultant will act as a trusted advisor, reviewing student financial aid packages, offering guidance on regulatory requirements, supporting verification and Return to Title IV (R2T4) processes, and helping institutions enhance their financial aid practices in accordance with federal regulations. This is a compliance-focused, consultative position for individuals with deep financial aid knowledge who enjoy interpreting complex regulations and assisting clients in navigating them.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in financial aid administration within a college, university, career school, or trade school environment.
  • Experience with Title IV programs, including processes such as awarding, packaging, verification, and Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculations.
  • Ability to review student files, document findings, and ensure financial aid practices meet federal compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Title IV funding programs and the regulatory framework governing federal student aid.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory guidance and apply it in operational settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with financial aid systems or case management tools.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory information in practical terms.
  • Ability to build credibility with institutional administrators through responsiveness, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Effective collaboration skills in a remote environment.
  • Available for occasional travel to client sites or conferences.

  • Comfortable learning new technologies and using them for documentation, analysis, and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct annual financial aid file reviews for client institutions, assessing student records for compliance with Title IV regulations.
  • Identify risks and areas for improvement in financial aid processes, providing clear guidance to strengthen practices and prevent audit findings.
  • Respond to institutional inquiries regarding Title IV regulations and financial aid operations, assisting administrators with interpretation and application of complex requirements.
  • Complete verification reviews and perform Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculations.
  • Provide practical, compliance-focused guidance to support sound decision-making by clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve complex regulatory questions and stay updated on evolving federal regulations.
  • Contribute to internal documentation, knowledge base articles, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Share insights and participate in ongoing learning to enhance the team's collective expertise.
