About The Position

This position is located at the Cal Poly Solano Campus in Vallejo, California. Under the general direction of the Director of Financial Aid at the Cal Poly Solano Campus, this position serves as the initial contact via phone, in-person and via email correspondence for current and prospective students and their families as well as general public inquires; does document in-take; and completes necessary reviews of financial aid files to ensure accuracy of awards and disbursement of financial aid. The Financial Aid Office is responsible for the determination of eligibility for and awarding of federal, state, institutional and private grants, scholarships, and work and loan programs in excess of $150M annually to over 13,000 eligible students. The office is responsible for adhering to the regulatory requirements as outlined in federal and state regulations as well as donor and institutional policies and for assuring compliance by the University. The Financial Aid Office serves the University by assisting students in obtaining financial aid and scholarships to attend Cal Poly Maritime Academy and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The Office's primary function is to provide appropriate financial aid based on federal and state parameters and in keeping with CSU and Cal Poly institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management, research and interviewing techniques, and the principles of individual and group behavior.
  • General knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire, working knowledge of federal Title IV, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, programs, and eligibility requirements.
  • General knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire, knowledge of the objectives, organization, and procedures of the campus Student Services program and its relationship to overall campus operations, including how admissions, academic records, and student accounts interface with financial aid.
  • Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply program rules, regulations, and procedures to individual student circumstances, and to explain the basis for eligibility determinations to students and parents.
