About The Position

The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity, responsible for administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives. Under the direction of the Agency Secretary, AHCA is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis’ vision for Florida’s health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation. The Medicaid program provides low-income families and individuals with access to health care. AHCA’s diverse workforce community of more than 1,400 employees is proud of its efforts to serve the people of Florida. This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Program Finance (MPF). MPF manages and projects Florida’s $34.4 billion Medicaid Services budget, oversees financial reporting of the Agency’s contracted Medicaid health plans, calculates both institutional and non-institutional Medicaid reimbursement rates, and disburses supplemental payments to Medicaid providers. This position is responsible for leading and overseeing the Financial Monitoring & Management Unit. This is a highly responsible leadership position overseeing the financial monitoring operations of contracted Medicaid health plans and ensuring compliance, accountability, and integrity in the administration of the Florida Medicaid Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative, programmatic, and financial oversight functions of the Unit and serving as a key liaison across Agency sections, bureaus, and external partners.

Requirements

  • Two years of professional experience with processing, examining, analyzing, or interpreting financial records or investigative financial information.
  • Two years of experience supervising employees in a professional work environment, including assigning work, evaluating performance, and providing coaching or corrective action.
  • Two years of professional experience in financial monitoring, financial analysis, auditing, compliance review, or oversight of health care related financial reporting.
  • Two years of experience coordinating, planning, or managing program activities, including evaluation of program effectiveness or performance.

Responsibilities

  • Leading, supervising, and coordinating activities of the Financial Monitoring & Management Unit.
  • Overseeing staff performance, providing training, evaluating employees, and directing daily work activities.
  • Exercising full supervisory authority, including hiring, discipline, promotion, assignment, and other personnel actions.
  • Developing, updating, and implementing policies and procedures related to the financial monitoring of health plans.
  • Maintaining expert level knowledge of the Florida Medicaid Program, including federal laws and regulations, state statutes.
  • Leading planning, organization, execution, and coordination of program evaluation activities to assess the effectiveness of financial monitoring and the achievement of Medicaid program goals.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Consistent, dependable attendance, with daily and punctual reporting to work.
