Maintains accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and department standards meet all DOL, PRH, and corporate requirements.

Requirements

  • Above average public speaking skills and experience in same; above average verbal and written skills; above average problem solving and conflict resolution skills; ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment; must be PC proficient and strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid State driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous Job Corps experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from a four-year college or university is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Centers financial operations, to include Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable plus other financial services.
  • Responsible for the preparation of all Center financial statements.
  • Analysis and explanation of all P & L variances for monthly financials.
  • Oversees center compliance activities regarding compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other related legislation.
  • Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, payroll and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and procedural standards.
  • Inputs monthly journal entries into company general ledger software for posting.
  • Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing entries.
  • Ensures all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Supervises finance department and provides training to staff as needed.
  • Interviews and recommends for hire, disciplines, and evaluates performance of the direct report staff.
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate career success skills.
  • Adheres to required property controls policies and procedures.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participates in PRH mandated staff training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope and capabilities.
