About The Position

The Finance Officer position coordinates and processes payroll and accounts payables for the Nashville Fire Department (NFD). This role performs various complex professional finance functions, which may include accounting, auditing, compliance, budgeting, purchasing, and investing. The position also handles various financial compliance-related tasks, administrative and/or supervisory duties, and researches, analyzes, interprets, and produces financial and narrative reports and/or projections. The Finance Officer studies and verifies accurate financial information, handles routine complaints and questions, researches and resolves financial-related problems, and provides analytical services. Additionally, the role may make assignments, oversee and train employees, carry out special projects, and analyze and evaluate organizational issues, procedures, practices, public policy issues, and plans as needed. Attendance at meetings is also required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a financial related field.
  • Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
  • All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
