About The Position

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing all finance and accounting functions of the plant operation. This role partners closely with plant leadership to drive revenue growth, optimize manufacturing performance, and maximize return on investment. Key responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, product costing, capital investment analysis, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and corporate policies. As a member of the plant leadership team, the Finance Manager is expected to maintain a visible and consistent presence on the plant floor, participating in daily gemba walks to observe operations, engage with employees, and connect financial metrics to operational performance. The Finance Manager reports to the Manager of AS Metal Ops Finance with a strong dotted line to the plant leadership team. This position may manage a Staff Accountant.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills, including the ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all levels of plant and corporate personnel.
  • Customer-focused with strong attention to detail and capable of delivering accurate, quality results in a timely, consistent, and professional manner.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in daily plant floor activities as part of the plant leadership team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing finance/accounting required.
  • CPA a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience as a plant controller or in a similar leadership role preferred.
  • Experience with ERP and accounting systems (e.g., SAP, BW, OneStream, Hyperion, Epicor, or similar) preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to link operational metrics to financial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing plant environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with plant sales and operations leadership to support scalable, profitable growth.
  • Participate in daily gemba walks and plant leadership activities to maintain visibility and connection between finance and operations.
  • Lead all aspects of the plant month-end close and reporting process, including comprehensive variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Develop tools and models to deliver insights into plant profitability, cost performance, pricing, and return on investments.
  • Develop and maintain product cost models to enable effective custom project cost quoting.
  • Prepare and develop the annual plant budget, including projected revenues, standard costs, manufacturing period expenses, and SG&A expenses.
  • Support cost savings initiatives and capital investment evaluations, including calculating return on investment for capital and cost-reduction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate financial policies.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to plant leadership, Internal Audit, and external auditors.
  • Proactively identify and drive process improvement initiatives to increase the efficiency and accuracy of the finance function.
  • Manage and develop finance staff through proactive development initiatives, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.
  • Lead and manage special projects as assigned.
