About The Position

The SANE (Search, Ads, News + Edge) team provides financial and business insights for Bing, Microsoft News, Microsoft Edge, and third-party affiliates. The team supports Microsoft’s Consumer business and partners with senior finance leaders, advertising sales, engineering and product teams, and business development. It focuses on advertising and is investing in AI.

The Finance Manager uses financial modeling, business intelligence, analytics, and strategic thinking to help leaders assess business performance, allocate resources, and make financial and investment decisions. The role focuses on Bing Distribution and includes financial planning and analysis, forecasting, close support, partner deal modeling, profitability and margin analysis, compliance, reporting, and process improvement. The manager communicates findings to business partners, including executives, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field; or a bachelor's degree in one of these fields or a related field plus 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Strong executive presence and leadership skills.
• Ability to investigate detailed business drivers and communicate results and drivers effectively to business partners, including executives.
• Curiosity, ability to learn quickly, and interest in understanding Consumer advertising business models and product drivers.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis of current and future financial performance for Bing Distribution, including budgets, forecasts, weekly outlooks, and month-end results.
• Assist with annual business planning and forecasting for SANE Finance, including analysis and research for preliminary and adjusted forecast cycles and performance analysis by partner rate and volume.
• Support peers and counterparts during monthly financial close by reviewing Gross Revenue and Traffic Acquisition Cost (TAC) by partner, evaluating accuracy and performance trends, and explaining results to business leaders.
• Collaborate with accounting and payables on TAC accruals.
• Build and evaluate deal models for new Bing Distribution partners, assessing revenue expectations, costs, profitability, and margins; review partner profitability monthly.
• Serve as a finance contact for partner questions concerning Bing Distribution revenue, costs, compliance, reporting, and analysis.
• Contribute insights for financial plans, variance analysis, investments, KPIs, and margin accountability; manage processes by engaging internal and external stakeholders.
• Apply Microsoft Finance systems, policies, procedures, metrics, historical performance, reporting, and forecast requirements, as well as business knowledge of monetization strategy, markets, and profitability drivers, to perform analysis, modeling, and reporting.
• Improve data collection methods and develop automated financial reporting and forecasting tools, as well as standard and ad-hoc reports.
• Learn how advanced technology and AI are used in Finance and across Microsoft to deepen analysis.
• Communicate recurring and ad-hoc results in a logical and understandable way.
• Monitor financial documents and business processes for compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements; drive corrective measures and support questions about documentation, policy adherence, and requirements.
• Recommend approved instruments and processes, stay current on company policies and procedures, and share updates with others.
• Support rhythm-of-business processes, including forecasting, target setting, and budgeting aligned with Consumer LT timelines.
• Own business drivers and FP&A, develop deep insights into the Consumer Office business, and support business reviews.
• Help design and develop revenue, KPI, investment-prioritization, and profitability reviews; develop quarterly forecasts and targets.
• Build strong partnerships across finance, business development, engineering, sales, and business planning to drive financial performance and growth.
• Exemplify a growth mindset and help drive success for SANE partners and external partners.
