About The Position

The Finance Manager provides a range of strategic Finance advice, analysis and support for key business areas/portfolios as assigned. Proactively manages senior relationships in order to provide seasoned and deep business insights, decision support and guidance and works closely with various stakeholders and team members as required. Scope of role may have pan-business impact and focus is on comprehensive reviews, specialized analysis, audits and/or initiatives with a yearly time span. Accountable for conducting financial analysis/research, reviews and/or audits to support functional goals/objectives. May act as interface with Finance partners/leaders and external parties. Serves as a source of advice to senior management in field of specialty; may lead team(s) of related specialists/experts. Undertakes and completes a variety of complex projects and initiatives requiring seasoned business partner specialist knowledge and/or the integration of cross functional processes within own area of expertise. Work is guided by policies and industry standards/methods. Requires innovative thinking to develop new solutions. Communicates difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders. Works autonomously as the lead and guides others within area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Accounting or financial designation preferred

  • Acts as a subject matter expert for the LOB Finance area supported and provides guidance/advice.
  • Identifies and develops key business performance measures/metrics and shares benchmark/best practice information.
  • Develops key strategies/tactics to maximize shareholder value and conducts financial analysis to support business decisions.
  • Leverages advanced data and analytics for strategic decision support.
  • Develops and/or assesses business cases/new initiatives, ensuring criteria are met.
  • Partners and supports the business to develop business, financial, operational, or organizational strategy.
  • Ensures alignment between business segment and enterprise goals/thresholds.
  • Proposes solutions that deliver superior risk-adjusted profitability.
  • Creates presentations on business performance (e.g., competitive analysis).
  • Acts as a catalyst in driving initiatives critical to delivering strategy.
  • Develops and implements growth strategies.
  • Partners with the business to develop financial plans and forecasts.
  • Acts as a respectful challenger to provide alternative points of view.
  • Leads the development/implementation of new financial models, operating service standards, methodologies, frameworks, and paradigms.
  • Synthesizes complex information into actionable insights and strategy.
  • Monitors and analyzes financial performance, acting as custodians of cost.
  • Adheres to enterprise frameworks or methodologies.
  • Ensures programs/policies/practices are well managed, meet business needs, comply with requirements, and align with priorities.
  • Manages correspondence, information, and confidentiality; escalates issues appropriately.
  • Ensures business operations comply with internal and external requirements.
  • Participates in cross-functional/enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert.
  • Conducts internal and external research projects and supports presentation development/delivery.
  • Conducts meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level and makes recommendations.
  • Monitors service, productivity, and assesses efficiency levels, implementing continuous improvements.
  • Identifies/recommends/supports implementation of actions/remediation plans for performance/risk/governance issues.
  • Manages relationships within and across business lines, corporate, and control functions.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assesses potential impacts.
  • Maintains a culture of risk-based management and control.
  • Participates fully as a member of the team, supports a positive work environment, and ensures timely communication.
  • Provides thought leadership and/or industry knowledge and participates in knowledge transfer.
  • Keeps current on emerging trends/developments and grows knowledge of the business, tools, and techniques.
