About The Position

The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) team is central to Amazon's global supply chain, focusing on inventory management decisions such as purchasing, quantity, positioning, and value recovery. SCOT utilizes sophisticated, in-house automated planning and optimization systems operating at a massive scale. Finance within SCOT is a high-impact function that partners with engineers, scientists, product managers, and operations leaders to influence strategy, guide investment decisions, and improve supply chain economics. This role is for a Finance Manager who will be the financial partner for the Automated Inventory Management (AIM) portfolio, responsible for ensuring the right inventory is available in the right place and condition across Amazon's global fulfillment network. The position offers significant agency, direct interaction with leaders shaping supply chain strategy, and the autonomy to drive large-scale investment decisions. The ideal candidate is curious about how automated systems impact business outcomes, comfortable questioning assumptions, and adept at building financial frameworks to support leadership decisions. The role involves ambiguity, requires quick action, and a track record of driving better choices through financial analysis.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
  • 4+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Science and Product teams to develop financial strategies and drive controllership across Automated Inventory Management systems, ensuring technology investments maximize long-term free cash flow and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Build financial models to evaluate multi-million dollar technology investments and their impact on inventory placement, availability, and cost to serve, navigating high degrees of ambiguity.
  • Conduct rigorous financial assessments of inventory defects, including entitlement analysis, estimation accuracy, and opportunity costs, translating findings into measurable P&L impact.
  • Build and maintain metrics and audit mechanisms to evaluate algorithmic decision outcomes, identifying underperforming models and providing data-driven recommendations for correction.
  • Develop compelling narratives and financial analyses for executive reviews.
  • Leverage AI agents, GenAI assistants, and AI-powered data platforms to accelerate analysis, improve productivity, and deliver higher-quality insights faster.
