About The Position

Canterra Group is proud to be supporting a top 5, highly respected and established real estate development organization in the Greater Toronto Area with the confidential search for a Finance Manager. This organization is widely recognized as one of the leading developer-builders in the Canadian market, with a long-standing track record of delivering large-scale residential communities, AAA Office towers and landmark development projects. The Finance Manager will play a key role within the company’s finance team, working closely with senior leadership to support debt management, project financing, and corporate cash flow planning across a diverse portfolio of development projects in the residential high-rise, low-rise, large AAA commercial office and light industrial manufacturing sectors. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who is looking to grow their career within a sophisticated real estate development platform and gain exposure to complex financing structures and major development initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Finance Manager will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of multiple development projects, with a focus on construction financing, lender relations, and corporate cash management. This role requires a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating with both finance and development teams.

Requirements

  • CPA designation (CA/CPA) required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting or real estate industry.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, corporate cash flow management, and project financing.
  • Highly advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving development environment with strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Real estate industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with construction lenders, financing structures, and development projects is an asset.
  • Experience with JDE EnterpriseOne (8.9+) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit monthly construction draw requests to lenders across multiple development projects.
  • Manage and submit deposit release requests related to residential condominium developments.
  • Oversee project cash management, including preparation of funding requests and distributions.
  • Assist with loan applications, construction financing, mortgage administration, and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal accounting teams to support cash flow forecasting for development projects, particularly within low-rise residential portfolios.
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of the company’s three-year forward corporate cash flow projections.
  • Prepare monthly finance reporting packages outlining development financing status and key financial metrics.
  • Coordinate and monitor letters of credit and surety bonds associated with development projects.
  • Review monthly cash distribution drafts prepared by property accountants for income-producing assets.
  • Manage documentation and processes related to corporate banking, credit facilities, and financial accounts.
  • Support ongoing financial analysis, reporting, and special projects as required by senior leadership.
