About The Position

We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive person with experience in service-based or creative industries (experience in the digital agency space is an asset!), to join our team at Evolving Web. The Finance Manager will oversee the financial health and strategy of the agency, ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient operations, forecasting, and compliance. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on financial management, ideally suited to a candidate with experience in similar service-based industries. We’re a growing company and take on many types of projects, so there will be a wide variety of tasks for you to work on.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA is an asset).
  • 5+ years of experience in finance/accounting; experience in a digital agency or professional services firm is highly preferred.
  • You have good knowledge of taxation in Canada and Quebec (an asset if you have knowledge about US)
  • Strong skills in Google Sheets or similar software
  • You like to improve yourself and processes in place and explore and use different tools to do so (ChatGPT as an example)
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Dex) and project management tools (Redmine, Float, Notion etc.).
  • Excellent analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Collaborative mindset.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with project-based accounting and revenue recognition
  • You speak English and French (French is a strong asset)

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning in alignment with the agency’s growth objectives.
  • Monitor revenue, margins, and profitability by project/client
  • Analyze key metrics (utilization, billable rates, project performance)
  • Advise leadership on financial implications of strategic decisions.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee monthly and yearly closing, reporting, and variance analysis
  • Implement and/or optimize tools and systems to improve financial visibility and efficiency (e.g., project time tracking, financial dashboards).
  • Manage and review ongoing operational expenses, payroll, payments to contractors
  • Review expense claims
  • General bookkeeping and reporting
  • Collaborate with project managers and departments leads to improve processes and resource allocation
  • Manage financial relationships with suppliers/vendors, contractors, and clients
