About The Position

The company operates diverse businesses including mortgage, life, and home/auto insurance brokerages, mortgage origination and servicing, a Financial Services Marketplace, and content creation across Ratehub and MoneySense. The Finance Manager will be responsible for the operational accounting and financial reporting backbone of the brokerage businesses. This role requires a hands-on approach, understanding deal flows, revenue recognition, and building reliable financial processes. The ideal candidate will identify and fix issues, build systems, automate manual tasks, and create clarity in financial data. This position is ideal for someone energized by structuring complexity and ensuring financial data integrity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of overall finance and accounting experience.
  • Experience as a manager within a Finance/Accounting function.
  • Financial operational experience within industry, understanding commission-based revenue and CRM deal flows into financial records.
  • Demonstrated experience building and refining processes and systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with Salesforce, including extracting, interpreting, and connecting CRM data to financial reporting and revenue analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a finance business partner to operational leaders.
  • Experience executing system implementations and process automations to create efficiencies within the finance function.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear executive-level narratives.
  • Excellent Google Sheets/Excel skills.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, energized by pace, and willing to do the hard work yourself while building the team.
  • Ability to switch between ground-level detail and big-picture strategy.
  • Prior people leadership experience, including developing analysts and building team culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Mortgage industry experience is a HUGE plus.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for brokerage operations within CRM and subledgers.
  • Extract, validate, and reconcile operational data from CRM and other source systems into reliable financial outputs.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies between operational systems and financial records, collaborating with sales and operations teams.
  • Build and maintain management reporting connecting operational metrics to financial performance (e.g., revenue by carrier, product, channel).
  • Track KPIs to provide business unit leads visibility into financial performance drivers.
  • Identify and implement tools and workflows for efficiency in revenue recognition, month-end close, and KPI reporting.
  • Leverage automation for accurate and timely reporting.
  • Build systems and processes to reduce manual effort, increase accuracy, and improve speed within the finance function.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other platforms to connect operational and financial data for enhanced reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with annual budget and quarterly forecast processes for Mortgage and Insurance BUs.
  • Assist with pricing analysis and modeling for brokerages, including rate competitiveness, margin optimization, and industry economics.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of financial analysts.
  • Model the right culture: hands-on when needed, strategic when it counts.
