About The Position

Our client is a fast-growing, technology-forward service company based in Farmington, Michigan. They specialize in delivering efficient, high-touch solutions to businesses nationwide and are scaling rapidly with a modern, energetic office environment that includes unique amenities and a strong emphasis on ownership and accountability. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations, specifically managing a small team handling accounts receivable and accounts payable. You will step into a stable, well-supported position (smooth transition with the current lead leaving on excellent terms) and play a direct part in maintaining strong financial controls while supporting overall company growth.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance with strong hands-on AR and AP expertise.
  • Proficiency with accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Odoo, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Must be based in the Detroit metro area and fully committed to in-office work in Farmington.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in service, logistics, distribution, or operations-heavy industries is a plus.
  • Strong cultural fit: mature, hardworking, accountable, and comfortable in a young, dynamic, in-office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of two in AR and AP functions, driving accountability, performance, and professional growth.
  • Oversee full-cycle accounts receivable: invoicing, collections, dispute resolution, and cash flow management.
  • Manage accounts payable processes: vendor invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and vendor relationships.
  • Support month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and cash flow analysis for leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, and other teams to ensure billing accuracy and provide financial insights.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and technology enhancements for greater efficiency.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and other strategic initiatives as the company continues to expand.
