About The Position

This internship takes place in the Spring semester, typically beginning in early January and ending May/June. EveryMind is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to join our Accounting Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or emerging professional who wants to gain practical, hands-on experience in accounting and nonprofit financial operations while contributing to an organization that makes a meaningful difference in the community. As a Finance Intern, you will work closely with members of the Accounting and Finance team and gain exposure to day-to-day financial processes, reporting, and administrative functions. You will have the opportunity to apply what you are learning in the classroom to real-world accounting activities while developing valuable professional skills.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Interest in nonprofit accounting and finance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with effective interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate options and propose solutions
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information

Responsibilities

  • Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Assisting with data entry and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Helping reconcile general ledger accounts and accounting records and researching discrepancies.
  • Supporting the preparation of financial reports, spreadsheets, and accounting schedules.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
  • Organizing and maintaining electronic and physical financial records.
  • Helping track payments, deposits, and other financial transactions.
  • Supporting audits and other accounting projects as needed.
  • Learning and following nonprofit accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and exercising professionalism when handling financial information.
