About The Position

The Finance Future Leaders Program aims to develop future finance leaders with a broad understanding of finance functions, strong technical skills, and strategic thinking ability. This is achieved through mentorship, training modules, regular performance feedback, and stretch projects focused on business improvement and efficiencies. Rotational assignments, each lasting approximately 10 months, follow specific curriculum components designed to build skills across key finance areas. The internship program provides interns with real-life experience, allowing them to deliver innovative solutions to business challenges and build relationships within a collaborative culture. The internship will be based at either the USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX, or Charlotte, NC, depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, graduating after the final day of the internship.
  • Most interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years.
  • Graduation date cannot be prior to August 13, 2027.
  • 0 to 2 years of related experience and accountability for simple to moderately complex tasks and/or projects.
  • Experience conducting financial/accounting research and producing reports.
  • Effective written, communication, presentation, and computer skills.
  • Proven understanding of Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Foundational knowledge of data analysis and relevant technical accounting/finance competence.

Nice To Haves

  • Academic concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Graduation date in Spring 2028.
  • Prior relevant financial internship experience.
  • Experience with financial statements, balance sheets, and/or Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support team members' tasks, following risk and compliance procedures.
  • Use financial principles to solve business problems, including forecasting, planning, and financial modeling related to income, profitability, liquidity, capital, leverage, asset and liability management, or operating expenses.
  • Support the preparation of recurring or ad-hoc financial reports and analysis, or cost-benefit analysis, to aid internal and external management decision-making.
  • Contribute to the preparation of advised, proactive analysis to enable effective decision-making and efficient resource utilization.
  • Identify and manage existing and emerging risks stemming from business activities, ensuring they are optimally identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Ensure all activities are completed within regulatory and compliance guidelines.
