About the role: The Accounts Finance Generalist (Payroll and Income Audit) Payroll : Primary responsibility is to maintain the hotel’s payroll system in order to ensure timely payment of wages according to Four Seasons Hotels policies and procedures and all applicable federal, state, and local taxes laws. You will be responsible for the verification and reporting of hotel revenues, the review of paperwork turned in to Accounting to document such revenues and the review of a Daily Revenue report to be used internally by the Hotel Managers to review financial performance and to forecast future business levels.

Requirements

  • Require a working technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and Four Seasons Internal Controls, Policies and Procedures.
  • Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-Job or through a series of professional certifications.
  • Ability to operate fax, scanner, copier, telephone, adding machine, calculator.
  • Require knowledge of and the ability to operate computer equipment and Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain harmonious and professional relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Comply with and enforce Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact.
  • Assist in cashier training and be available as needed to support cashiers in solving problems in cash handling procedures.
  • Assist in other areas of the accounting office as needed.
  • Maintain harmonious and professional relationship with co-workers, supervisors and all departments.
  • Comply with and enforce Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times and maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll information.
  • Review employee status changes and PSA requests with the Human Resources Department to ensure accurate data entry.
  • Assist the Human Resources Department in maintaining vacation accruals.
  • Reconcile Operations tips and service charges with the department heads on pay-period basis.
  • Assist the Human Resources Department with employee’s W-2 and paycheck requests, employment verification forms and similar requests.
  • Communicate any instances where Income Audit paperwork is at variance with Internal Controls to the Senior Accounting Manager and Assistant Director of Finance.
  • Communicate shortcomings in Income Audit paperwork back to originating department.
  • Assist in other areas of the Accounting office as needed.
  • Review, verify and process payroll data for preparation of cheques.
  • Review reports from outside payroll service and bring any discrepancies to the attention of the Assistant Director of Finance immediately.
  • Prepare payroll check for distribution to department heads.
  • Maintain and file all bi-weekly payroll documentation.
  • Assist in month end process, accruals and payroll journals.
  • Complete Unemployment Claim paperwork.
  • File/complete garnishment in accordance to local laws.
  • Prepare requested reports for Finance and Human Resources departments.
