The Finance Director supports and advances the mission of FCS by being primarily responsible for the business department functions at FCS. This role works closely with the Head of School on matters of budgeting, finance, and financial planning, ensuring they reflect the school's philosophy and meet student needs. The Finance Director functions as an active member of the Leadership Team, keeping the Head of School and Principals informed of needs and activities related to finances and budget. The role also involves overseeing various business office responsibilities, including financial statements, accounting principles, budget formulation and administration, cash and borrowing needs, and maintaining necessary computer systems. Additionally, the Finance Director evaluates business office functions, conducts financial analyses, manages fund transfers, and maintains relationships with financial institutions. The position also oversees tuition determination, billing, and the FACTS Management Program, advises on past-due accounts, prepares reports for the Board of Directors and Head of School, and oversees the Variable Tuition Committee. In the Development aspect, the Finance Director oversees accounting for fundraising activities, tracks pledges, and records donations. For the Budget, the role oversees the preparation of the annual school budget, submits an estimated budget for Board approval, schedules meetings to discuss departmental requests, prepares a preliminary budget, reviews and adjusts the budget, generates monthly reports, approves purchase orders, reconciles ordered items with actual costs, and reviews financial statements. The Finance Director also handles miscellaneous budget items, projections, annual employee contracts, monthly financial reports to administrators and the Board, year-end audits, and works with the school accountant for fiscal year closing. The role also involves working with financial institutions, meeting with the FCS audit Committee, and recommending policy changes. The Finance Director directly supervises the Human Resources Coordinator, Accounts Receivable Receptionist, Accounts Payable Receptionist, Finance Consultant, Executive Assistant, and Assistant. They attend Board of Directors meetings, stay updated on GAAP and FASB regulations, assist with major purchases, ensure adequate insurance coverage, oversee 401K investments, update financial policies, and assist with personnel and legal issues.
