About The Position

The Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is a nationally recognized academic department dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education. As one of the fastest-growing clinical departments within the School of Medicine, Dermatology provides comprehensive care across multiple clinical sites throughout Orange County and serves as a regional referral center for complex dermatologic conditions. The department supports a diverse portfolio of activities, including a robust clinical enterprise, nationally recognized residency and fellowship training programs, and an expanding research program supported by federal, foundation, and industry funding. Requirements

Extensive knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems, budgeting and reporting techniques, accounting and bookkeeping.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations.

Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Solid understanding of financial and resource planning concepts as well as how to control organizational budgeting.

In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
5-10 years of progressive experience in Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, and/or Financial Reporting; Including 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet those goals.
Responsible for supervising the day-to-day unit activities.
Normally directs a section or group of budget / financial / resources analysts.
Oversees and participates in the most complex projects and deals directly with major department managers.
Provides direction according to established policies and management guidance.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
Manages, prepares, administers, and directs control of budget / organization resources.
Manages the activities of the financial / resource analyst staff.
Reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control.
Monitors division and department adherence to approved budget.
Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies.
Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules.
Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.
