About The Position

Join a dynamic defense contractor as the Director of Finance, leading financial operations across multiple subsidiaries in engineering services, production, procurement, and commercial drone sales. This leadership role involves overseeing accounting, financial reporting, government contract finance, and compliance functions.

Requirements

  • 10–15 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of government contracting experience, ideally within DoD.
  • Strong understanding of FAR/DFARS, DCAA audit requirements, indirect rates, and cost pool structures.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint or a comparable government contracting ERP.
  • Ability to own month-end close, financial reporting, multi-entity consolidations, and executive reporting.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Comfortable working on-site and serving as the primary finance leader for the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA, CMA, or CGFM designation is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint or equivalent government contracting ERP.
  • Experience in a multi-entity holding company structure with intercompany eliminations.
  • Prior involvement in M&A transactions and familiarity with SBA certification requirements.
  • Experience with Fishbowl MRP or similar inventory/manufacturing systems.
  • QuickBooks Desktop/Online proficiency for legacy entity support during transition

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across all entities, consolidating and eliminating intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare executive financial reporting packages including P&L trends, balance sheet analysis, gross profit margin by program, budget vs. actual variance analysis, and trailing-twelve-month dashboards.
  • Maintain the general ledger in the ERP system (Deltek Costpoint), ensuring accurate cost pool allocations and job-cost postings.
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and manage accounts payable/receivable functions.
  • Design, maintain, and defend the indirect rate structure in accordance with FAR Part 31 cost principles and CAS requirements.
  • Prepare and submit incurred cost proposals and support DCAA audits, rate negotiations, and forward pricing rate submissions.
  • Build and maintain program-level Estimates at Completion (EACs), including cost performance tracking for CPFF, FFP, and T&M contract types.
  • Support proposal pricing efforts with fully burdened labor rate calculations, basis of estimate documentation, and cost volume development for government solicitations.
  • Ensure ASC 606/percentage-of-completion revenue recognition is properly applied and documented across all active contracts.
  • Prepare and submit periodic bank covenant compliance packages including Fixed Charge Coverage Ratio (FCCR) and Debt-to-Tangible Net Worth calculations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for banking and lending relationships, managing loan draw requests and evaluating lending terms.
  • Lead the ongoing Deltek Costpoint implementation and optimization, including chart of accounts design and user training.
  • Support acquisition due diligence, purchase price allocation analysis, and post-close integration of acquired entities.
