Finance Coordinator

Inspiration Commerce GroupToronto, ON

About The Position

We're looking for someone to join DOZR as a Finance Coordinator. DOZR is a two-sided marketplace that helps contractors and DIYers rent the construction equipment they need, where and when they need it. Every rental on DOZR becomes an invoice, a payment, a supplier payout — and occasionally a damage claim. In this role you'll support the day-to-day financial operations that keep the marketplace running: billing customers, collecting payments, paying suppliers and keeping our books clean. Your job is to make sure money moves accurately and on time, in both directions. This is a full-time, remote-first role based in Canada.

Requirements

  • A foundation in bookkeeping, billing or AR/AP
  • Meticulous — you catch the $12 discrepancy, you don't let an invoice go out wrong, and an unreconciled account genuinely bothers you
  • Comfortable picking up the phone — collections is a people job, and you can be friendly and firm in the same conversation
  • Wants to automate the boring parts of their own job and reinvest that time in higher-value work
  • Competitive and love to win. You're competitive and are always looking for an edge. You have a high bar (some would say "unrealistic") for yourself and those you work with.
  • Do whatever it takes. You're willing to do what others won't to achieve what others can't. What we're doing is hard. Really hard. Sacrifices are required in the pursuit of greatness, and we're chasing greatness.
  • Founder-level ownership. If something breaks, you fix it. If there's an opportunity, you chase it. You (and we) never say "that's not my job".
  • Curiosity with teeth. You don't just ask why something isn't working — you dig until you know, then you ship a fix.
  • Ask for forgiveness, not permission.
  • A self-starter. You love being in the weeds and rolling up your sleeves to get things done. You never let roadblocks get in the way of getting things done; the laws of physics alone dictate what you can do.
  • Excellent analytical skills. The term 'quantitative rigour' gets you excited. You love using data to help identify problems, discover opportunities, and substantiate your ideas.

Nice To Haves

  • Someone with a foundation in bookkeeping, billing or AR/AP who wants broad exposure across a full finance function instead of a narrow silo
  • Someone meticulous — you catch the $12 discrepancy, you don't let an invoice go out wrong, and an unreconciled account genuinely bothers you
  • Someone comfortable picking up the phone — collections is a people job, and you can be friendly and firm in the same conversation
  • Someone who wants to automate the boring parts of their own job and reinvest that time in higher-value work
  • People who want a stable, predictable or repetitive role/set of tasks
  • People looking for active mentorship (i.e. you'd rather have someone tell you exactly what to do vs. figure it out on your own)
  • People who are excited about building and managing a team vs handing the details themselves
  • People who find comfort in following a playbook
  • People who don't want to be in the weeds, spending hours querying a database and slicing the data to find new insights and hypotheses to test
  • People who prefer stability over speed or "strategy over execution"

Responsibilities

  • Own customer billing end-to-end — generating accurate invoices for rentals (including extensions, overages, fuel and damage charges), issuing credits and adjustments when needed, and resolving billing disputes quickly and fairly.
  • Run our receivables motion — monitoring aging, chasing down payment by phone and email, coordinating with our sales team on tricky accounts, and keeping DSO moving in the right direction.
  • Prepare bank payment runs and supplier payouts, help process vendor bills, and make sure the businesses that rent out their equipment through us get paid accurately and on time.
  • Own the monthly commissions process for our sales team — calculating payouts, validating the underlying deal data, resolving questions, and getting everything to payroll on time.
  • Support month-end close — coding transactions, reconciling accounts and payment processors, and helping with journal entries so we can close fast and trust the numbers.
  • Support claims when equipment is damaged or lost — gathering documentation, filing and tracking claims with insurers, and following each one through to recovery.
  • Embrace technology, modern tooling and AI to automate the repetitive parts of all of the above. We don't want to replace people, but we do want to replace monotonous, manual, repetitive work.

Benefits

  • Paid, on-site working session (if outside of Toronto, travel will be covered)
