Based at Classic Turf in Woodbury and reporting to the Finance Director of Tracks & Courts, you will partner directly with operational leaders to help build and strengthen the accounting & finance function. This is a high-ownership role focused on creating structure, improving visibility, and establishing finance as a trusted business partner across the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of of financial controlling experience in the construction industry
  • Construction accounting is non-negotiable, you must understand job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion, and project-based revenue recognition
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-accountability entrepreneurial environment where priorities can shift quickly
  • Able to build trust and credibility with operational leaders and owners across different working styles and personalities
  • Confident communicator who can stay composed under pressure, navigate difficult conversations professionally, and drive issues to resolution
  • Highly proficient in Excel; comfortable learning new ERP and BI tools like Power BI
  • Pragmatic and solutions-oriented, able to balance structure and control with business realities when building and formalizing processes
  • Experience supporting internal or external audits
  • Deadline-disciplined and self-managing

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a structured month-end close process from the ground up
  • Build internal accounting capabilities and reduce reliance on external firm support over time
  • Own bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
  • Implement and maintain WIP / deferred revenue accounting across all open construction projects
  • Maintain cost sheets on a rolling basis to ensure real-time project visibility
  • Always maintain audit-ready documentation and organized workpapers
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS and corporate accounting policies
  • Track and report WIP, job costs, billings, and revenue recognition across active projects
  • Partner with operational leaders to ensure job coding and cost allocations are accurate
  • Proactively identify cost overruns, billing gaps, and margin risks early in the project lifecycle
  • Build and maintain project-level reporting that gives a clear picture of where each job stands
  • Build and maintain a monthly forecasting cadence (Sales & EBIT)
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, from project pipeline to overhead and labor planning
  • Prepare and present management reporting that supports informed decision-making
  • Communicate financial insights clearly to operational and leadership teams
  • Support Group / Corporate consolidation and reporting requirements as needed
  • Collaborate closely with the owners on billing processes, cash activities, and collections
  • Resolve issues early and escalate with context and potential solutions
  • Support internal and external audit requirements and year-end close
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from the Finance Director and corporate teams
