About The Position

The Canadian Niagara Hotels Group of Companies is seeking a Controller to lead their finance team. This role is described as being at the intersection of finance, technology, and operations, focusing on modernizing financial processes, leveraging data and technology for business impact, and providing operational intelligence. The Controller will own the integrity and innovation of the finance function, aiming to make it faster, sharper, and more strategic.

Requirements

• CPA designation.
• 5+ years of progressive post-qualification experience, including proven leadership of a finance team.
• Genuine curiosity for technology - hands-on comfort with BI tools and a working understanding of how AI can elevate finance.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong financial-systems savvy.
• Sharp business acumen, exceptional attention to detail, and first-class analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A collaborative, people-first leadership style that grows teams and retains talent.

Nice To Haves

• Hospitality or hotel finance experience (a strong asset).
• Service-oriented background with the appetite to master hospitality finance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a large, multi-property finance team, building a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Drive a tight, accurate, and increasingly automated month-end and year-end close across multiple business units.
• Own the monthly Financial Review with operations, tracking Business Plan objectives, action items, and follow-ups.
• Deliver consistent, insight-rich financial statements, dashboards, and labour KPI reporting for operational decision-making.
• Partner with operations to drive revenue, control costs, and elevate guest satisfaction.
• Lead the annual budget and forecasting process, aligning outlet plans with enterprise objectives.
• Safeguard company assets through strong internal controls and best practices.
• Oversee year-end audits, reviews, and tax filings.
• Champion the finance function's evolution with modern business intelligence tooling (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
• Harness AI and machine learning to automate reconciliations, streamline the close, forecast demand and revenue, and flag anomalies.
• Translate advanced analytics and machine-generated insight into clear guidance for operators.
• Partner with IT and operations to integrate PMS, POS, and ERP data into a single source of financial truth.
• Stay ahead of the curve on emerging finance technology, piloting new tools.
