About The Position

Our Finance Controller helps lead the charge for our Vernon Office Financial Services team. With an in-depth understanding of financial processes and requirements, and a people focused leader at heart, they are instrumental to the strategic and operational deliverables of the team. We’re looking for a Finance Controller, to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ of related industry experience.
  • Accounting designation or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrated hands-on operational and corporate financial accounting skills.
  • An excellent understanding of manufacturing and financial consolidation concepts is required.
  • A strong team player with superior supervisory, analytical and interpersonal abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • An unwavering attention to detail and organization.
  • The ability to manage multiple assignments and a commitment to providing excellence in customer service and support.
  • A proven track record of leading teams and experience in the forest industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Excel, JDE financial software, and Dynamics AX is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Report financial information to Sr. Management while ensuring company policies, procedures and systems are adhered to.
  • Provide supervision and employee development, with a focus on both individual and company needs.
  • Ensure the required internal controls are in place for revenue recognition, expenditures, recording of transactions, and the safeguarding of assets.
  • Develop, analyze and streamline financial information and recommendations to support management decision making, and both internal and external audits.
  • Lead the way by maintaining, ensuring adherence to, and revising the corporate financial policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the development of annual consolidated operating budget for Tolko and its related subsidiaries.
