Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Contador Público certification is required.
  • 8–12 years of progressive finance experience in Colombia.
  • Proven experience as a Finance Controller or Senior Accounting Manager in a services environment (IT/Telecom preferred).
  • Strong hands-on expertise in IFRS and Colombian statutory accounting.
  • Deep understanding of local taxation, compliance, audit processes, and internal controls.
  • Proven track record in treasury and cash flow management.
  • Experience managing and developing a team of 4–5 finance professionals.
  • High-Performance Mindset: Resilience, emotional intelligence, and a focus on agile delivery.
  • Technologist DNA: A deep understanding of the difference between "coding" and "engineering." (Note: As this is a finance role, this translates to understanding the difference between simple bookkeeping and strategic financial engineering).
  • Advanced Oral English.
  • Advanced Spanish.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using ERP systems, specifically SAP (for group reporting) and Siigo (for local/statutory accounting).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (mandatory).
  • Experience with Power BI or other automation tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native foundations or AI coding assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate financial statements under IFRS and Colombian statutory accounting (local GAAP).
  • Review and approve key accounting areas, including revenue recognition (T&M, milestone-based, managed services), accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, payroll accounting, benefits, fixed assets, depreciation, and intercompany accounting.
  • Deliver monthly management reporting with clear variance analysis and commentary in English.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Colombian tax and regulatory obligations (Income tax, IVA, ICA, withholding taxes, payroll taxes, and parafiscales), maintaining a zero-missed statutory compliance calendar.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors to support audits, tax reviews, inspections, assess regulatory changes, and implement required actions.
  • Lead weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting for a US$6–8M revenue entity, managing liquidity for operations, payroll, tax payments, and vendors.
  • Enforce strong treasury controls, including payment approvals, segregation of duties, bank account governance, and signatories.
  • Drive working capital optimization by improving billing accuracy, AR collections (DSO reduction), managing vendor payments, AP scheduling, and overseeing intercompany settlements.
  • Manage banking relationships, KYC documentation, and any guarantees or facilities.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external auditors and internal audit/corporate controllership, maintaining continuous audit readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and SOX-type controls, identify control gaps, lead remediation plans (CAPA), and develop SOPs and process notes.
  • Partner with Operations and Commercial teams on customer/project profitability, cost management, margin improvement, and the financial review of contracts.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and re-forecasting in coordination with regional finance, providing insights on revenue trends, cost drivers, and operational risks.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a finance team of 4–5 members across accounting, AP/AR, payroll, and compliance.
  • Set performance objectives, conduct reviews, coordinate effectively with shared services/BPO teams, and foster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and compliance.
