About The Position

The Finance Co-op Program at Manulife John Hancock, available at their Toronto office, offers undergraduate students invaluable hands-on experience and serves as a direct pathway to the Finance Development Program. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Computer/Data Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with interest or exposure to financial analysis, modeling, valuation, or investment research.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational, project, and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize information and present insights clearly.
  • Highly motivated, proactive team player with a strong interest in investing, technology, and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI or data tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support portfolio and investment team activities across managed accounts, hedging programs, and private investments, including day-to-day operations, analysis, and project work.
  • Conduct investment research and analysis by reviewing analyst reports, market data, company information, and industry trends to support prospective and existing investments.
  • Assist with portfolio review, calibration, and monitoring using modern portfolio management and market data platforms, ensuring accuracy and alignment with program objectives.
  • Contribute to due diligence, valuation analyses, financial modeling, risk assessments, and periodic portfolio reviews for public and private investment holdings.
  • Produce reports and summaries, including exposure, risk, performance, and ad-hoc analysis, to support investment decision-making and internal programs.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by developing job aids, documentation, repeatable workflows, and AI-enabled tools to enhance investment analysis and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with senior team members and cross-functional partners on projects and initiatives, adapting to shifting priorities and emerging business needs.
