About The Position

Working in Finance as part of the Finance Business Partnering (FBP) team, this role leads finance business partnering for TMX Datalinx & TMX VettaFi (the BUs) and is the key FBP lead for the Global Insights (GI) Operating Segment (OS). FBPs empower financially sound planning and decision making throughout the organization by spreading financial acumen; telling compelling, data-driven stories to spur action; bridging the knowledge gap between finance and operations; and assisting in the creation of financial planning and analysis’s (FP&A’s) decision support tools. As an FBP, you will simplify FP&A analysis into easily digestible business logic and take a more technology-guided and teaching-focused approach to business partnering, enabling decision makers to make sound financial decisions more independently. The C-suite and business unit executives will also rely on you as a sought-after thought-partner for strategic decisions and for insights that help achieve performance targets and outcomes. You are an integral part of the Business Units (BUs) senior leadership team and responsible to plan, direct and organize all planning, accounting, and reporting functions as well as providing input on strategy, long-term vision, and project governance. A strong communicator and natural business partner, you'll liaise with various functional teams across TMX and build relationships with our stakeholders. You will earn a seat at the table to influence the decisions that will lead overall business growth and performance for the BUs. As a valued member of their team, you’ve had previous responsibilities supporting tactical execution in finance, such as modeling, budgeting & forecasting, management reporting, accounting and decision support. You are ready to act strategically to influence and to drive larger-scale change for the BUs. You also serve as the link between the BUs and the corporate finance group to ensure that the BUs financial concerns are addressed. As the key GI OS lead, you will be responsible for the consolidation and coordination of the FBP function across GI’s, playing a pivotal part in all facets of GI FP&A, from supporting the group planning process to making data-driven recommendations to drive business performance.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of progressive finance experience
  • Strong organizational, analytical and conceptual skills, able to work at a high level and in detail
  • Able to work effectively across organizational lines and promotes an effective team-based environment with employees and management at all levels of the organization
  • Strong technical skills, including spreadsheets (pivot tables, model building, model auditing) and knowledge of financial systems structure
  • Strong financial analysis skills, ability to undertake research

Responsibilities

  • Provide finance support, guidance and recommendations to the BU leadership teams including full P&L variance analysis, management reporting, projects analysis, product costing, and pricing reviews
  • Prepare and present quarterly results to group CFO as part of quarter-end procedures for external disclosures
  • Leveraging a deep understanding of BUs strategy and execution progress, review and recommend external disclosures for BUs
  • Recommendation of process improvements and identification of cost savings opportunities/efficiencies, create systems that automate manual business processes
  • Refine and rebuild models that are designed to support the BUs’ product portfolio
  • Decision support & analysis: lead business case development and initiative modeling/tracking including analyzing key, non-financial operating performance indicators, assessing trends and variances
  • Monitor leading indicators to identify initiative delivery risks and operational performance gaps, drive action or provide alternative approaches
  • Provide projects/initiatives status reporting for the BU’s sponsored projects
  • Lead the consolidated budgeting and forecasting deliverables for the business units, including the development and communication of itemized timelines to the team
  • Support central FBP team in preparation of presentation materials and target setting
  • Support financial modeling for strategic planning process
  • Prepare the operating segment financial results, including content creation and selection, key messages and insights
  • Coordinate the operating segment budget and forecasting deliverables
  • Work closely with Operating Segment president and strategy lead
  • Elevate GI finance standards
  • Working with all finance functions to ensure accounting treatment of transactions is accurate and complete in the general ledger. For complex accounting issues, consult as appropriate with TMX Controller group
  • Work with the external auditors on quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Support the maintenance of a reliable system of internal controls over financial reporting to adequately safeguard the company’s assets and provide with integrity accurate reporting on financial results and in accordance with the requirements for CEO/CFO certification
  • Assist the Corporate finance & development team with any projects
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as required
