Finance & Business Operations Lead

TaktReston, VA
$130,000 - $180,000Onsite

About The Position

Takt builds software that enables some of the world's largest warehouse, distribution, and logistics organizations to create highly engaged and efficient teams. We empower operators at every level to improve performance, drive profitability, and grow their careers. In both our products and our people, we aim to reflect, represent, and advocate for warehouse and logistics teams globally. We are seeking a Finance & Business Operations Lead to own the financial operations of Takt and help build the financial and operating discipline we need as we scale. This is a broad, hands-on role spanning financial operations, financial planning and analysis, business operations, and revenue analytics. You will own the day-to-day mechanics of running the company's finances—from invoicing, payments, expenses, cash management, and reporting—while also building budgets, forecasts, Board reporting, and analysis that helps company leadership make better decisions. This is not an oversight-only role. Initially, you will be a team of one and will personally do much of the work you own. We are looking for someone equally comfortable building a multi-year financial model and figuring out why a customer invoice hasn't been paid; preparing a Board financial package and processing an expense reimbursement; or recommending a cash-management strategy and then helping implement it. As Takt grows, this role has the opportunity to grow with the company and help define and ultimately build our broader Finance and Business Operations function. This role partners directly with company leadership and is located in our Reston, VA office.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5–8 years of relevant experience in finance, strategic finance, FP&A, accounting/finance operations, or a related role. Exceptional candidates with somewhat less or more experience are welcome.
  • A strong financial and analytical foundation, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and actual-versus-plan analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with financial operations such as invoicing, AP/AR, expense management, monthly reporting, or cash management.
  • Excellent spreadsheet and analytical skills and an ability to turn financial information into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Strong business judgment and comfort working with sensitive financial and employee information.
  • A high degree of ownership. You don't wait for someone else to identify the problem, define the process, or do the work.
  • Comfort working in an environment where some processes are well established and others still need to be invented.
  • The ability to move easily between strategic and tactical work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present financial information clearly to company leadership.
  • A genuine interest in building the systems, processes, and discipline required to scale a growing company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a high-growth SaaS, software, or technology company.
  • Experience in an early-stage or growth-stage company where you operated with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Experience preparing financial materials for executives, investors, or Boards.
  • Experience with Ramp, Paychex Flex, HubSpot, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience working with outside accountants, tax advisors, auditors, banks, or other financial partners.
  • CPA, finance/accounting background, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics and recurring-revenue business models.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and expense administration.
  • Own and administer Takt's corporate card and expense-management processes, including Ramp payments and employee reimbursements.
  • Maintain clear and accurate visibility into company cash, expenses, receivables, payables, and other key financial information.
  • Coordinate the monthly financial close and ensure leadership has timely, reliable financial reporting.
  • Manage banking relationships and company cash balances.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate cash and liquidity strategies and administer approved strategies consistent with the company's liquidity needs and financial controls.
  • Coordinate with outside accounting, tax, banking, insurance, and other financial partners as appropriate.
  • Continuously improve the processes and controls surrounding the company's financial operations.
  • Own the company's annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes.
  • Maintain and improve Takt's financial model and forward-looking operating plan.
  • Track actual performance against budget and forecast, identify meaningful variances, and help leadership understand what is driving them.
  • Monitor cash burn, runway, revenue growth, hiring plans, and other key operating and financial metrics.
  • Develop scenario analyses to support decisions around hiring, investment, pricing, growth, and other company priorities.
  • Prepare recurring financial and operating analysis for the Leadership Team.
  • Prepare financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, KPI analysis, and other materials for Board meetings.
  • Help leadership translate company strategy into measurable financial plans and operating targets.
  • Own the administrative coordination of payroll and Takt's relationship with our PEO, Paychex Flex.
  • Coordinate employee changes and other payroll/benefits-related administrative processes with Paychex and company leadership.
  • Manage recurring company administrative and compliance requirements, including applicable local, state, and federal registrations, filings, licenses, and reporting.
  • Coordinate business-license, BPOL, business personal property, and similar company reporting requirements.
  • Maintain calendars and processes so recurring business obligations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Take ownership of the miscellaneous operational issues that inevitably arise in a growing company, determine the right solution, and drive them to completion.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to improve visibility from pipeline to bookings to recognized and forecasted revenue.
  • Use HubSpot, contractual commitments, historical performance, and other data to build and maintain reliable revenue forecasts.
  • Help establish clear reporting around bookings, pipeline, renewals, revenue, and other commercial metrics.
  • Partner across Finance and Sales to ensure customer contracts, invoicing, bookings, and revenue expectations remain aligned.
