About The Position

The Finance & Business Analyst works under the direction of the Manager and Director of Finance. The position will work in collaboration with various department leaders for advanced analytics and guidance related to implementing and maintaining fiscally responsible decisions and processes. The position provides tools to support the financial and business goals and objectives of assigned areas of responsibility. The position is instrumental in driving performance metrics, value-based care and lean principles related to designated service areas for operational and growth goals. The position will maintain a working knowledge of current information technology utilized in the hospital. This knowledge will allow the incumbent to incorporate data across multiple systems for the use and support of program improvement and long-range strategic planning. The incumbent will plan and coordinate advanced data collection and analysis activities for selected services and projects. The position is responsible for providing management with operational and financial data analysis, working with department leaders to monitor bi-weekly productivity and monthly financial performance, designing and implementing selected projects that will impact business operations and other analysis as required. The position will assist department leaders in developing and updating capital assets, opportunities for improving capital asset management, including but not limited to capital asset needs, capital planning, and review and processing of capital requests. This position is also responsible for the planning, coordinating, and development of the yearly operational budget as well as rolling forecast process. This position will maintain operational and financial metrics, design and implement selected projects that will impact business operations. The position will assist in the identification of revenue cycle opportunities, including charge capture issues. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups and individuals. Work effectively with administration, employees and medical staff. Identify and analyze complex departmental (and patient care) issues, translating large data sets into actionable insights and visualizations that support decision-making. Provides guidance and training related to financial reporting software as well as schedule management software. Make independent decisions and provide recommendations to Administration, Director, employees and medical staff. Exercise good judgment and tact in providing leadership, guidance and assistance. The position must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while consistently demonstrating the core values of Enloe Health and serve as a role model to other employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Services Administration, Mathematics or related field OR MBA or graduate degree
  • Three years’ experience in financial analytics, business analytics, information technology, healthcare or similar analytical role
  • Advanced Excel skills including building financial or analytical models using advanced formulas for transforming large datasets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex financial findings and data models into easily interpreted, actionable insights.
  • Ability to design, structure, and maintain complex datasets, dashboards, and/or analytical models that support departmental KPIs, providing timely insight into performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Advanced Excel skills required, including familiarity with advanced formulas and utilization of Power Query to create easily refreshable data tools, visualizations, and/or dashboards.
  • Must possess analytical skills necessary to gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data related to efficient and fiscally minded process improvement.
  • Be able to collaborate with multiple departments to develop initiatives and strategies that optimize costs and improve overall efficiency and profitability of the hospital, including identifying opportunities within the revenue cycle.
  • Familiarity with identifying and measuring impactful metrics related to business operations.
  • Ability to create compelling visualizations that support operational decision-making.
  • Must be able to build relationships with diverse groups of leaders, leading reviews of month-end financial performance, bi-weekly productivity, and development of operational budgets.
  • Eagerness to adopt new processes and/or tools to continually improve upon the data integrity and output of the department.
  • Strong analytical curiosity with an inclination to investigate what drives metrics and performance trends.
  • Self-starter with independent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of individual assignments while remaining a strong team-player who is willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
