About The Position

Malengo is a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating international educational migration. We provide mentoring and financial support to students from low-income countries pursuing Bachelor's degrees or vocational training in high-income countries. Our goal is to empower millions of students to access education, thereby lifting themselves and their families out of poverty. We believe this is a highly effective poverty reduction strategy. Currently, Malengo supports students in Uganda with Bachelor's degrees and refugees in Kenya pursuing vocational training in Germany. By 2030, we plan to expand our support to students from most low-income and lower-middle income countries, facilitating undergraduate studies in over a dozen destination countries. Our program is sustained by a network of volunteer mentors and a financial model where former students contribute to future generations through Income Share Agreements (ISAs). We have successfully supported five cohorts of approximately 300 students in Germany, with the first students already graduated. An additional 50 students are preparing to join this fall. Furthermore, around 250 young individuals, primarily refugees from South Sudan, Somalia, Burundi, and DRC, are preparing for vocational training in Germany (mainly nursing), with the first cohort starting in spring 2026. These individuals are currently undergoing intensive German language training in Kenya and Rwanda. Our support for scholars in Germany includes academic preparation, immigration assistance, and long-term mentorship, in collaboration with universities, landlords, employers, and government institutions to ensure successful integration. Our team is international, mission-driven, and passionate about social impact, education, and intercultural understanding. We are committed to supporting the holistic well-being of our scholars, including their mental health. To further this mission, we are seeking a "Finance Associate" to join our team.
