About The Position

This role is part of bp's One Finance program, a three-year rotational program designed to develop future finance leaders. The program aims to create a pipeline of finance professionals with broad discipline experience, transferable skills, and the potential to progress within the organization. Early careers will gain experience through challenging development assignments, build a toolkit of transferable skills, and receive dedicated support. The Finance and Risk Analyst will have immediate access to various trading support roles within Finance, Risk, and Compliance at bp's Trading & Shipping division. This position offers exposure to functional businesses supporting supply and trading activities, contributing to career growth in the energy industry. Rotational areas may include Commodity Risk, Commercial Development, Credit Risk, and Market Risk, with a potential opportunity to learn about Gas and Power businesses in Houston.

Requirements

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in an accepted discipline.
  • Graduating between December 2026 and May 2027.
  • Current Cumulative GPA Minimum 3.0.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions.
  • Must be available to start on agreed upon global program start dates (January 19, 2027 or June 21, 2027).
  • Geographically mobile and willing to relocate to Houston, TX.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated interest in the commodities markets.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High degree of curiosity.
  • Basic understanding of financial controls and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake role rotations within business areas such as Commodity Risk, Commercial Development, Credit Risk, and Market Risk.
  • Ensure trading activities are conducted within a robust control framework (Commodity Risk).
  • Manage the successful business implementation of pan-functional change initiatives (Commercial Development).
  • Address the possibility of financial loss due to counterparty default (Credit Risk).
  • Manage potential financial loss due to changing market prices (Market Risk).
  • Support supply and trading activities within the Trading & Shipping division.
  • Work with finance, risk, and compliance professionals in energy trading support.
  • Contribute to building a long-term career within the organization.
