About The Position

The finance and accounting manager leads the preparation of financial and business analyses, supporting key areas including: O&M expense, capital expense, business planning, workforce, regulatory filings and discovery, general accounting, month-end close activities, and business support for internal client organizations. Provides strategic guidance to senior leadership and business partners. Manages priorities and workload for a team of financial analysts, and oversees their performance through coaching, mentoring, and supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of seven years directly related experience.
  • A minimum of three years of managerial or functional management experience.
  • Management skills including the ability to establish objectives, execute policy, monitor resources, and manage the development or implementation of a system, program, or process.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills to provide input into policy decisions, and to mobilize resources to produce desired business results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate team members.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls, familiarity with financial reporting, and an instilled commitment to accurate on-time completion of monthly departmental tasks and responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree and/or CPA designation.
  • Knowledge of FERC reporting standards and requirements.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Oracle in an accounting or financial reporting role.
  • Familiarity with the financial drivers and operational processes of electric generation facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis and interpretation of actual financial results, short-term forecasting, and reporting for O&M expenses at generation facilities and support organizations, capital project expenditures, and workforce levels.
  • Oversee the development of long-term O&M and workforce projections in support of the business planning process, including consolidation and reporting efforts.
  • Provide financial, analytical, and general business support to internal client organizations.
  • Manage general accounting and month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, cost allocations, general ledger reconciliations, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Support the preparation of financial data for regulatory filings submitted to state and federal agencies.
  • Support financial analysts in working with department managers to develop financial targets and assist client organizations in delivering against established targets.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of reliable, efficient, and accurate business reporting tools.
  • Direct special projects and financial studies.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.
  • Coach, mentor, and supervise a team of financial analysts.
