About The Position

The Finance and Accounting Assistant supports the hotel/resort team through daily accounting tasks, financial reporting, and operational analysis. The role is ideal for someone starting their finance career who wants broad exposure to both accounting and analytics within a hospitality environment. The position helps ensure accurate financial records, provides insights into property performance, and supports operational leaders across departments such as Rooms, Food and Beverage, HOA, and Property Operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized with strong attention to accuracy. This position requires the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with non-finance operational leaders. The Finance and Accounting Assistant will demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork, reliability, and willingness to learn the unique aspects of hospitality finance. Full-time, year-round position with benefits eligibility. This position is located on premises in Breckenridge, CO. Transitional housing may be available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Hospitality Management (with finance emphasis), Economics or related field or equivalent experience – required
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and basic financial analysis concepts - required
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, basic modeling) – required
  • Proficient in English - written and spoken – required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily revenue reconciliation for hotel, food and beverage outlets, activities, and other revenue centers.
  • Assist with cash handling oversight, including cashier drops, audits, or bank change orders.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP.
  • Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports used by department managers and leadership.
  • Assist in creating dashboards and KPI reporting for occupancy, ADR, Rev PAR, labor productivity, Food and Beverage metrics, and department expenses.
  • Analyze actual vs. budget forecast results and help identify business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Work with department managers to gather data, understand variances, and communicate insights.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process for all operating departments.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency across reporting and accounting workflows.
  • Provide support to operational leaders including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Spa, Maintenance, HOA, etc., to help them understand financial performance.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for internal or external audit.
  • Support special projects, new outlet openings, pricing/packaging analysis, and other cross-functional initiatives.
