About The Position

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in overseeing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role assists with budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls while providing leadership to finance staff and partnering with departments to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Monitor general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Support cash flow management, banking relationships, and investment activities
  • Prepare financial reports for leadership, board, or external stakeholders
  • Support the development, monitoring, and revision of operating and capital budgets
  • Analyze budget variances and provide clear explanations and recommendations
  • Assist departments with budget planning and financial analysis
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP)
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation
  • Help maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Provide oversight, training, and support to finance team members
  • Serve as a resource to department leaders on financial matters
  • Act as Director of Finance designee when needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, efficiency, and reporting accuracy
  • Assist with financial system upgrades, implementations, or process automation
  • Support data integrity and financial system controls
  • Participate in strategic planning and special financial projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance function
