About The Position

The Director, Finance & Accounting is a strategic leader within the Fox Digital & Technology organization, responsible for driving financial planning, forecasting, and executive decision support related to Capital investments. This role partners closely with Technology and Business leaders to translate complex financial data into actionable insights, enabling informed investment decisions and long-term planning. In addition to leading the Capital budgeting and forecasting processes, this role owns financial modeling/reporting, variance analysis, and executive-level reporting for Capital spend, depreciation, and cash flow. The Director will play a key role in preparing and delivering presentations to senior leadership, clearly articulating financial performance, risks, and opportunities. The Director, Finance & Accounting maintains strong partnership/collaboration with Capital Accounting to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of Capital's financials, including compliance with GAAP and corporate capitalization policies. The role bridges Finance and Accounting by aligning forecasts with actuals, supporting month-end close, and ensuring financial data integrity for reporting and planning purposes.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/planning or similar role experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Strong analytical thinking

  • Ability to understand the “whole picture” and reasoning behind the tasks
  • Ability to work somewhat independently and be resourceful

  • Excel in accounting functions and be able to trace transactions to and from their point of origin
  • MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel (Pivot Tables and large amounts of data); Workday Financials; Oracle (SQL); familiarity with use of AI technologies (GPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning processes for Capital expenditures, depreciation, and cash flow.
  • Lead monthly Capital reviews with project owners, ensuring alignment between financial plans and operational execution.
  • Partner with Technology, Operations, and Business leaders to evaluate investment opportunities, providing financial insights and decision support.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support scenario planning, ROI analysis, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast), identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities, and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations, dashboards, and financial narratives for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Build and enhance reporting tools and databases to enable more dynamic, real-time analysis and forecasting capabilities.
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate and timely month-end close, including review of key journal entries, accruals, and depreciation.
  • Ensure alignment between actual financial results and forecasts, proactively identifying discrepancies and driving resolution.
  • Maintain oversight of Capital Asset accounting, including capitalization policies, labor capitalization, and compliance with GAAP (e.g., ASU 2018-15).
  • Review and analyze Balance Sheet accounts and roll-forwards, ensuring accuracy and transparency of capital-related balances.
  • Support audit processes by ensuring completeness, documentation, and compliance with SOX and internal controls.
  • Cross-train with Accounting team members and serve as a backup resource during critical close and reporting periods, fostering operational continuity and shared knowledge across Finance and Accounting.
  • Own and deliver Capital reporting packages, including spend, depreciation, and cash flow analysis, for Corporate and executive stakeholders.
  • Translate financial results into clear, concise insights tailored for non-financial audiences.
  • Provide forward-looking insights, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities impacting financial performance.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate capitalization policies and evaluate capital vs. expense determinations.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and SOX compliance, including documentation and testing of key processes.
  • Drive process improvements and automation across financial planning and reporting workflows.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration between Finance, Accounting, and Business Operations teams.
  • Preparation of Capital-related census financial information for annual reports and preparation of specific Capital information for annual insurance renewal purposes.
  • Support Tax requirements as needed in relation to Capital budgeting & Forecasting.
  • Requisition/purchase order reviews and approval. Ongoing follow-up and troubleshooting discrepancies with the Business Operations team.
